Welcome to the list, Chris.

In a town of only 3,000 people, you may be surprised to learn that there is
a commerical iris grower in Jonesborough, TN. Me!

If you'd like to come out anytime on the weekends, or in the evenings by
calling 753-7831 first, I'd be happy to show you what I have. Right now
Louisianas are in full bloom: Bayou Sunset, Voodoo Magic, Black Gamecock and
Iris fulva leading the show, and probably tomorrow the first of the Japanese
are going to start unfolding. It looks like I'll have about 13 Japanese
blooming within the next week. There are only a few TB still left.

If you have pictures of what you have, bring them along. From the red light
in Jonesborough go north on Boone's Creek Road, past White's Fresh Foods,
and turn right onto Old Boone's Creek Road just after passing a church. Go
about 1.5 miles and turn left onto Malone Hollow Road, and you will see the
iris beds going up the hill. I live in the first house facing on Malone
Hollow Road - the one where the lawn isn't mown because I spend all my time
weeding iris.

The invitation holds for anyone else on the list who happens to be going
through Jonesborough, TN, as well. My first spider daylily popped out today
(Stella de Oros don't count).

Web site at
www.Historic-Jonesborough.com/iris/
which needs updating as badly as my lawn needs mowing.

Back to the weeding.
