Re: SHOW: UIS Show Results

Jeff -- Thanks for the report, and congratulations on your wins. Your
situation, of being located at a different elevation than -- I take it --
most of your local society's members, is one with which I can sympathize. I
am situated along the tidal Potomac south of Washington, whereas most of
Chesapeake and Potomac's members are located at higher elevations west and
north of Washington. Consequently, my garden is usually nearly bloomed out
by the time of our local show. Fortunately, the Fredericksburg Area Iris
Society, located about 50 miles south of Washington, holds its show a week
before the C&P show, and I take advantage of that to be able to exhibit
seedlings. In a normal year, (not like this year), the Francis Scott Key
Society (Baltimore area, some 40 miles northeast of Washington), holds its
show a week after C&P. This provides an opportunity to exhibit the really
late bloomers. So, folks should take a look around, as you did, and see
where they may be able to catch a show when the local show's date and their
garden's peak don't coincide.
