Here in South Aust, a lot of irises growers have heavy alkaline clay soils.
So long as it's on a bit of a slope or raised a bit, the bearded and spuria
irises will do very well . Just add some organic stuff and a bit of gypsum.
No need for heavy digging around those rocks. If it's acid clay I'd use
organics with dolamite and maybe a bit of lime.
Sounds like a good climate for TBs and SPurias
