Mike, I can't speak for Linda's neck of the woods, but my weather turned hot
a couple of weeks ago and hasn't let up. Two weeks of 80+ in the daytime
does a lot to accelerate bloom season. Strangely enough I still have an
occasional SDB in the "cool" northern bed. (Same yard.) My yard seems to be
several days earlier than most in the area. Our local show will be NEXT
Saturday and I don't expect to have much left to bloom by then.
The absolutely GREAT thing about this season is that crosses are setting like
crazy. Irises are fertile that normally aren't. I've never seen such a high
percentage of takes. All you have to do is wave a bloom over a clump and the
whole stalk sets pods! ;-) I pitched all but 50 of my tags when I moved
because I didn't expect to use them again and I'm about to run out. Pity I
have to work 40 hours a week. (But taking a vacation day Monday!)
