There is a USDA Hardiness Zone map of Europe on the web at
http://www.passionflow.co.uk/usda1.htm
Most of Great Britain except the coastal fringe and the Scottish Highlands
is in Zone 8. This would make it quite comparable, at least in terms of
hardiness zoning, to the native home of the Pacific Coast irises.
