This is my favorite iris this year in my garden. I got a root from
Cooley's 3 or 4 years ago as a bonus, liked it so much that I
purchased more. It has pinky-mauve standards and mauve falls, very
ruffled. Sturdy. Not a whole lot of blooms, but boy, those blooms
seem to stay out long. Not real tall, and I like that.
The iris is beautiful here in St. Louis (zone 6.)In bloom right now
are:
SKATING PARTY-classic white
HIGH BLUE SKY: a pretty, subtle light blue, veining, short with
blooms nicely placed
AFTER THE DAWN (?)or is this AFTERNOON DELIGHT? can't remember - with
light copper standards, lavendar falls with a copper rim around edge
of falls. I have this planted in a group with a copper and lavendar
TB. This is a stunning group.
KNOCK EM DEAD - this is ok, not great
I have many others in bloom for which I don't have names.
I am annoyed with the varities I must stake. That's why I have so
much respect for SKATING PARTY. Those big thick stems are so sturdy!
ISLAND DANCER bloomed for me this year--just planted it last fall.
I'm a bit disappointed in the coloration, don't know what I expected.
My fault, I guess.
