Like I said, they look related <g>. Your are right about the beard
colors. But in person, they don't look much alike at all. Kashmiriana
and #4 have the most similar blooms, but Kashmiriana is about half the
height of #4, and falls are proportioned shorter than falls on #4. K.
is more pigmented than the other three. The standards have more pigment
on Kashmiriana than #4, but #4 standards have more pigment than on the
other two, which are more off-white than lavender. Standards on #4 are
an unusual grayed lavender color. # 4 also has oddly shaped falls that
are held horizontally - the hafts are elongated and straight, then flare
out at the ends, while falls on the other three enlarge more gradually
from the haft to the end and hang more at a 45 degree angle.
#2 & #3 are more similar - about the same height & same color, but
blooms on #2 have a more rounded overall appearance & standards are more
similar in color to #4. #3 has pallida type branching (sort of), #2 &
#4 are a bit more branched, but still in the upper part of the stalk.
Kashmiriana branches from the base, has more branches and more buds.
<BTW they are all neglectas
(blue-violet bitones), not amoenas (which have white standards and
colored
falls according to the standard definition).>
Oh drat, I did it again. I know better... or part of me knows better,
but the rest of me isn't paying attention <g>.
The one from Ellie Weikle (I.neglecta!) doesn't have a bloom open today,
so I can't double-check the color of the standards, but I think they are
the palest of the three.
