My methode:
Paper clips come basically in two sizes, plus circles and triangles,
and they are available in a limited range of colors. But using a code of
color & size & shape, and then if needing more permutations, putting a basic
steel loop on as the primary, and then hanging the colors, sizes and shapes
gives you three times the basic shape alone. This does require a field
notebook to record the pollen parent. Of course the label is on the pod
parent.
Unfortunately, I do sometimes over estimate my memory, and forget
where the pollen came from that is on the paper beside my stool, while I am
snnipping out the anthers.
This works indepedently of zone, however for the curious this zone
7+/- , which used to be a temperate rain forest is not having enough
percipitation. Is this global warming or a a random variation in weather
patterns?
