CULT:Leaves caught in fans/"duplex" blooms

Hi all,

I have 2 culture questions.

We've had a number of iris, historic and modern, that apparently
get growing leaves, caught in the fold of the fan they're coming
out of. On the ones that do this the worst, the emerging leaves
become twisted around/broken up. Someone told me it was related
to watering? but we changed how we watered, and it persisted.
Only some of the iris do it, but some do it a lot. I haven't
been able to find this in my iris books. The plants don't seem
diseased. Someone said it was weather related?

Second, a number of iris, historic and modern, have produced
what we call "duplex flowers" -- instead of 3 S/F, there are 2.
We garden organically, there is no RoundUp use near our garden,
the plants seem healthy and are propogating nicely. At first
we thought it was more in the space agers my housemate likes,
but now we've seen it in older historics too.

These 2 things happen separately.

Any ideas?
