I have never seen this before the current year. Then what you
described happened to several varieties this year. I released
the "caught" foliage as soon as I spotted it by hand and normal
growth resumed.
We had a number of hard frosts in late winter and during the spring,
with lots of warm-mild/harsh reversals. I was assuming the problem
was weather related.
