>But is it unusual to have any success with THORNBIRD?<
Ruth,
Almost anything will take on Thornbird if used as pod parent.
I have lots of crosses of Thornbird X ...........
Like Walter said: cream whites, greenish yellow tans with flounces
and spoons. I've gotten reds from Thornbird X Tawny Wings,
Both Rick Tasco and Mike Sutton have red iris from T-Bird.
What you can expect from Mezmerizer X Thornbird is lots of
white flowers with large flounces, cream whites with greenish ecru
shoulders and whites with lavender shades, even some 2-tone lavenders
with flounces, at least that's what i got from Thornbird X Mezmerizer.
I made Thornbird X Mezmerizer crosses 2 years in a row,
The most unusual is a weak growing spaceager with 1 solid
fall, 1 broken color fall, and 1 fall split down the middle half
1 color half another, (didn't bloom this year so don't know
if this pattern will repeat)
The worst cross was Thornbird x Conjuration, 2 Dykes Medal winners.
The most interesting is Thornbird X Bewilderbeast, can't wait to see it
and
send a picture to Mr. Shear, he should get a kick out of it : )
Am sending photo of TBxMez to iris-photos.
