This was discussed informally at the AIS convention. I believe both
Virginia and Sacramento will have significant garden training
included as part of the conventions' garden tours.
How this might affect the 4.5 hours of classroom training provided
during the AIS convention is yet to be determined.
This will not affect those who do not get to conventions or out of
their apartments of course. :-(
I do like the idea of compulsory garden training simply in order to
challenge those who are giving and those who are receiving. I
enjoyed the story of one judge who stated his bias against plicatas.
This alarmed the many people who witnessed this statement... until
they went to his garden and saw all the plicatas he was growing. He
based his bias on garden performance, not on classroom training or
catalogue pictures.

judges in order for them to retain their status as a garden or active
master judge. We require them to complete a portion of their
on-going training as garden session training, not just classroom.
It
has helped get some of our judges back out into the garden. I'm
thinking it would be a good idea for AIS to consider for the handbook.
