Re: companion plants for bearded irises

I have Violets, Bachelor's Buttons, Pyrethrum Daisies, Gerard's Phlox, Prostrate Phlox, Columbine and Poppies that bloom during TB season. Peonies also make an interesting backdrop for some iris but mine have not taken off yet. I also have a large rugosa rose that blooms all at once that makes quite a picture. I love gold iris with the orange poppies, and white gerard's phlox. And EdithWolford looks great with pink and maroon pyrethrum daisies. I think the pink tones bring out the blue in the falls and are pastel enough to make the yellow show nicely. I am sure they would look good with any blue, purple, or yellow iris. As well as white. I also have a number of bulbs that put on a nice show with the iris. I am still working out details with my gardens and would love to know of any other sugestions

what suggestions do you have for perennial plants that bloom at the
same time as bearded irises? I'm in zone 5.
  Thanks
