Re: HYB: Abbey Road pigments (was on photos)

Thanks Neil - she definitely has some red looking veins. Not much, but
definitely some.

Chuck, since I got ambivalent murky looking extracts after trying to
separate the oil soluble from the alcohol extraction, I repeated the
extractions using hot water first.

There is quite a bit of greenish yellow pigment in the water extract. I
did several water rinses to make sure all of that pigment was out, then
did a warm isopropyl alcohol extraction and got more of the same color.
Then added paraffin oil, shook it up, and got some of the same color in
both layers.

??

I think this is too conceptually messy for me, with me using different
(less volatile/toxic/flammable) extractants that don't work the same way
as the extractants you are using.

The pigment distribution was the same in standards and falls with both
extractions - the first time, I used falls without beards or hafts, &
got more pigment from the standards. The second time, I didn't remove
the beards, and got about the same concentration of pigment from each.

Hope these two extractions give you the answers you wanted - sure
confused the heck out of me!
