I'm looking for someplace within a hundred miles of here to go sometime
this week to see irises in bloom. Griff, I suspect your club member in
the Blue Ridge is too far for us to drive for a day trip, but sounds
like the bloom is still good.
Anybody have suggestions? Maybe in northeast Tennessee, high elevation
in the Cumberlands, or foothills of the Smokies?
We don't care how beat up the plants are, mostly just looking for a day
out driving around, winding down from bloom season here, but would like
to see recent intros.
The latest of the late bloomers are at peak here right now - GOLDEN
APPLE, LIGHTNING RIDGE, MADE OF MAGIC. CLOUD BERRY may still be waiting
to bloom.
<zone 7 in Virginia, where we have just completed a day of touring
gardens,
the day following our C&P Iris Society show. Our
members' gardens ranged
from virtually bloomed out near sea level to at their
beauteous peak in the
foothills of the Blue Ridge mountains.
