I echo the welcome, Bob, and hope you'll enjoy this list as much as I do.
We're always learning something, and never need to fear asking questions.  As
to a good book, I agree that The World of Iris is a most excellent
publication, but I'd also recomment Bill Shear's The Gardener's Iris Book
(Taunton Press, 1998) which is equally authoritative, full of color
illustrations, and somewhat more popular in style:  very easy to read, in
fact, a lot of fun to read.
