Rita, do you know if there are pictures available?  Over twenty+ years  I've 
had three clumps which developed what I thought was scorch.  It  matched the 
description in TWOI.  All at Alvaton, with two one year and one  another.  The 
first two were about 30 ft apart in the main bed, while the  third one was a 
couple hundred feet up the hill and in my seedling patch about  two years 
later.  
 
Even the good years have their problems!
