Re: TB:HYB:Glaciata / Lemon Ice


Thomas Silvers' statements about glaciatas are correct.  However we may say
that they always come from plicata breeding, especially from lines with
luminatas and luminata-plicatas ("fancy plicatas").  They are basically
plicatas without the darker markings.

Yes, they are totally missing anthocyanin (purple-blue) pigment.  Their colors
are different, clearer, than other whites, yellows, pinks or oranges, which do
contain traces of anthocyanin.

Several years ago Keith Keppel introduced 'Classmate', an orange glaciata, and
'Answered Prayers', a pink glaciata.   Neither of these, unfortunately, proved
to be a vigorous grower.

And yes, only the flowers, not the foliage, are subject to the glaciata
effect.
