You can have anthocyanin on underside of falls in the glaciatas types known as celstar. There is some thought that this is a seperate plicata allele, but my thoughts are that it isn't. Having anthocyanin on underside of any iris is not a common phenomena, and this seems to be not a trait generally observed.
I currently have White Mutant, a glaciata aphylla currently in bloom in the greenhouse. There is an anthocyanin patch on the underside of falls. Also of note is that this plant has purple spathes, that are purple only on outside of spathes, which as corespondence to flower part, would be underside of falls.

There is no other anthocyanin, in glaciatas, and fall spot of smaller iris is completely independent of plicata, allthough this trait can interact with the pattern in complex ways, such as Ring Around Rosie . Too complicated to elaborate on here.

Subject: [iris] TB:HYB:Glaciata / Lemon Ice

If I'm putting it all together correctly...

1) Glaciatas are the recessive whites (lacking
blue/purple anthocyanin pigments) that sometimes show
up among bearded seedlings. The lack of anthocyanins
gives them an especially clean (unmarked) haft area.

2) They have usually shown up from plicata breeding?

3) When a glaciata has yellow pigments, it's also
called a "lemon ice"?

Feel free to correct any of these statements, if
they're off base.

My two questions are:

Have there been any pink glaciatas ("pink ice") in
commerce?

And since "Elsa Sass" is a lemon ice and has very
strongly purple tinted foliage bases - the inability
to produce anthocyanins must be restricted to the
flowers in a glaciata. Would this be an accurate
statement?

Thanks in advance for any help in this matter. Tom
