HYB:Pod rot
Pods have started to rot in KY.
Too much rain. As soon as possible, I strip all foliage from the stalks.
But that doesn't help this form of rot. The ones I've lost so far are simply
breaking off at the base of the pod with advanced rot evident. The tissue is
"mushy." <vbg>
Not smelly rot type rot, but the tissue contains too much water and falls
apart. This rot appears to come from the plant taking up too much moisture. I
know of no way to fight this form of pod rot.
Older pods seem more resistant. My thought is these plants were more
mature, and no longer producing flowers, when the rains began.
