Yes!  Fine tip paint marker from Walmart craft sections is lasting  much 
better than Sharpie.  Some problems with the marker itself drying  up!  Probably 
my carelessness!  But they are readable much longer in  the garden.

I still use the conventional rose markers.  But, also use a LOT of  plastic 
window blinds.  Use them as cross tags, seedling pot markers,  seedling row 
markers, and more temporary garden markers.  It's easy to  punch holes in them 
with regular hole punch when I need a "tag" form of  marker.  Used them this 
year to designate "keeper" seedlings.
