Re: SHOW: Sun. 13

Betty:

Sorry for the late response. Convention got in the way. Plus we had our
local iris tour last weekend. I had planned to attend the Aril Trek this week
too.

This year's Best of Show was Pure As Gold, a 1993 reblooming TB by Maryott.
It has rebloomed the past 4 years in October. It may be my favorite
rebloomer.

Last years Best of Show was Deja Blue, a 2001 reblooming TB by Lauer. I
have had it for 2 years and it has not rebloomed. However, it under a deciduous
tree and is probably too heavily shaded in the Fall to rebloom. I plan to
move it where it can get more sun.

I will post photos on the photo group chat list when I am approved for
membership! I have never seen photos on this chat list so I assume they are
stripped off.

Has anyone else won Best in Show with rebloomers? I have had discussions
with other club members who won't grow rebloomers because "they are not as
nice" as oncers. However, they will admit that Pure As Gold is an exception. I
did enjoy Sutton's talk at the convention. I hope he continues to hybridize
for rebloomers.

Scarlett, that is great!? Could you share names of the irises that won Best
in Show?? Also, pictures if you have them?? It's been a long time between
bloom seasons here!?

I won Best in Show last year and this year with rebloomers. The show was
early (for us) last year and this year.

I won Best in Show last year and this year with rebloomers. The show was
early (for us) last year and this year. However, this year there was
enough
cold weather that it hurt the show. Too bad. We had lots of newbies
joined
in the last year. Two meetings had presentations on grooming. It would
have been nice if the newbies had a chance to show. The good thing was
that
there was lots of medians shown at the show. I can't remember if I showed
rebloomers two years ago when the show was two weeks later.

Scarett,

Did you take rebloomers to the show last year, or were they just early
bloomers??
