I just noticed that my potted and neglected (and not
too happy about that) 'Apricot Drops' is about to
bloom. From its parentage at IrisRegister.com, it
would seem to be genetically most similar to the
Intermediate Beardeds, even though it's a Miniature
Tall. It seems also that it's been used as pod and
pollen parent in a handful of other registered irises.
Typically these crosses have involved SDB's or
tetraploid MTB's.
I'd most like to use it with some of my diploid (24
chromosome) MTB's and bearded species. Has anyone
already tried this combination? Or have experience
with fertility of 'Apricot Drops' in general?
Thanks in advance, Tom
