Christian, Sharon McAllister and others (including Tom Little who helped start this forum way back when), did their best to teach some of us genetics in this forum back in the early days. Search for punnett (two t's) in the first several years of the archives. Also <genetics 101>. Also some more recent posts by Chuck Chapman.
I never really got it all straight. But a lot of it has become a lot more understandable now that I've had some experience.
Yes, tetraploid irises (TBs) have 4 rather than 2 sets of alleles. Also, here's the simplified definition in Wiki. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Punnett_squareUnfortunately, an unknown number of the conditions mentioned at the bottom of the wiki page as making punnett squares invalid may apply to iris traits such as rebloom.
