Just came in from the garden where I was stripping stalks and giving the pods their deer protection--lace bonnets. Though I'd pass on the conditions I found.
We had rain (an inch or better) followed by humid temperatures above 80 degrees. The wind blows in a determined fashion, yet I'm seeing rot. (not the rhizomes)
Eldest granddaughter finally made her first crosses two weeks ago. Only one cross took. (she's still learning) I was checking it today and found it rotted where the stem joined the stalk. Fell off in my hand. :(
Lots of bee pods. A couple are wearing lace caps! A few spurias are in bloom. Not all. Betty W. Bridge In Time Iris Garden KY zone 6 --------------------------------------------------------------------- To sign-off this list, send email to majordomo@hort.net with the message text UNSUBSCRIBE IRIS
