Hi Holly and welcome! When I first started out I use the plastic t labels you can buy at wal mart with a black marker. The labels held up but the writing faded. I bought a Brothers P Touch label maker and that worked well with the plastic tags.. This year, my yard was on tour so I upgraded to the metal markers..like the one pictured here/ http://www.iriscitygardens.com/frame2.html. You can buy them in several different places, just do a google search. I use the metal markers, with the P touch labels and still have a map marking where all of my irises are planted. Tags do still get moved around. I'm beginning to buy different iris cultivars and want to make sure I keep them straight once planted. I'm toying with the idea of playing with hybridizing in the future, so keeping my iris labeled is important. My question tonight is what labels and pens are everyone using to label their plants in the field? Thanks in advance!
