re: Bill Maryotts Florida freeze customer

Refrigerator induced dormancy is used so many ways and on so many
different types of plants, seeds and bulbs with success that I would not be at
all surprised if this fellow was successful with iris. It might also be
interesting to know if his iris bloom in Feb-March or shortly after he removes
them from the fridge.

I'd like to try an experiment with SDB's which sometimes don't bloom or
bloom short in my area (zone 9). If I place them in the fridge for 4-6 weeks in
late July-August might they bloom in the late Fall or have better bloom in the
following Spring ? Any suggestions ? I'm definitely going to try this on one
older Turkey I have that has not bloomed in 2 years despite having over a dozen
mature fans.
