I recently received the following e-mail from aperson on the west coast
(Victoria BC area) and was wondering if the learned associates of the
Iris List could help id this iris...
Message was as follows;
I enjoyed your Iris pages very much.I'm not very knowledgable about
irises,
so I wonder if you can help me with a problem of identification. We have
a
small iris known to us only as the `Chinese iris'.It has light yellow
flowers
and fans of dark green leaves never more than one foot long; they tend
to
grow out sideways in a fan-shaped direction. It doesen't seem to be very
hardy, so has always lived in a pot, where it can form quite a long root
system for its small size. I thought it might be Iris forrestii, but
seems
much too small. It is definitely not a bearded type.Do you have any
ideas,
and if so, can you tell me anything about its culture, the type of
growing
conditions it prefers?
Any takers on this? Chris.
