Thanks for sending the information regarding the success in growing tall
bearded
iris in Florida. You've confirmed what I have been telling Floridians for
some time.
A new iris affiliate for Region V has been started in the Jacksonville area.
At the
first meeting over 20 persons brought either iris or pictures of iris they
grow and
welcome the opportunity for fellowship with other iris enthusiasts. 0ne
former
AIS member brought her husband along and they will now be rejoining AIS as
a couple. This member had been told by an agriculture agent to forget about
growing iris in Florida and she did. You can imagine how happy she will be
to prove him wrong.
I will send this information along to them in the event someone should wish
to try this approach. This method should certainly work in the Miami area.
Louisiana iris are now being used by landscapers in the Florida area.
So far we don't seem to hear too often from Floridians on Iris L.
Information
like this will be more than welcome.
