Re: TB: Dubious names

On the other hand, if you grow iris in a difficult garden, maybe you are
better off buying irises at the Xmart or salvaging them from abandoned
driveways and not worrying about the names. It is nice though to be able to
put some kind of label on an iris and say it looks like WABASH (which does
have small flowers, by the way) when bragging to one's friends. Of course,
if you're hybridizing, it's also nice to be able to share the real parent's
names with would be hybridizers and others looking at pedigrees.

Two of my best performing irises came from Kmart (apparently labelled
correctly as VITAFIRE and LACY SNOWFLAKE) and have outperformed SILVERADO,
EDITH WOLFORD, HONKY TONK BLUES, and BEVERLY SILLS by a country mile. And I
have gotten mislabelled irises from reputable dealers.

So, if you really want to know what it is, we can only maybe help you narrow
the search.

I would like to have a piece of the better performing WABASH look alike
discussed here last year, to see which one I have here - did anybody find a
source?
