CA Girl in KS

Good Morning, Growers!
I've moved to central Kansas from San Jose, CA and could use some recommendations for 
tall bearded's that particularly suit the windy conditions & weather here.  I had 80+ 
varieties in San Jose that just about grew themselves (sources were local Maryott's & 
Ghio's gardens & my favorite catalog, Schreiners).  Ones I've tried here, even Dyke 
Medal winners haven't done that great.  Also, we have a 2-acre pond & I'd like to try 
some Japanese iris pondside, but have no experience with these.  Recommendations?  
I sure miss my Calif. garden (among other things).  Are there any other misplaced Bay 
Area folks out there?
