The East Tennessee Iris Society demonstration/exhibition/whatever unjudged
show was Saturday and Sunday and we had a huge turnout this year thanks to a
couple of spots with club members on local television news. We also sold a
ton of plants and encouraged iris addiction amongst the general populace of
all ages.
During the lulls in the crowds, several of us were out sniffing every flower,
and discoverd (to our total disgust and horror) that BABOON'S BOTTOM may not
have gotten it's name from the appearance of the flower. Double pheeoo!
Several other cultivars seemed to have names related to their more pleasant
fragrances. AMBROSIA DELIGHT smells like coconut or fruit cocktail.
Popularity poll winner was unanimously MESMERIZER.
Some beautiful seedlings from Tom Parkhill.
