Theresa,

First you have to make sure the name you choose has not been used
before. Do one of two things. If you have all the checklists of the
American Iris Sociey(AIS), which go back to 1939, then check them for
your name. If you do not have the checklists then write to Keith
Keppel, registrar of the AIS and he will check for you. Send him your
name and a list of alternates and $7.50 which is the cost to register.
If the name, or alternate is ok then Keith will send you a registration
form to fill out.

Keith's address is: Keith Keppel, PO Box 18154, Salem, OR 97305--Phone:
503-391-9241.

This is a general outline of what to do. There are rules for making up
the name which I do not have handy. (Maybe another iris-l member can
help). In one of the recent AIS Bulletins this was discussed in detail.
If you are not an AIS member then write to Keith for more details.
