Whenever the Sass's mention I. pumila, read I. lutescens (syn. I.
chamaeiris).  The Sass's thought they were using I. pumila, but in fact were
using I. lutescens in their breeding---which is why, for all practical
purposes, their intermediate hybrids such as ELEANOR ROOSEVELT are sterile.
