Claire,
I have been raising Irises and Daylilies in the same beds with
excellent results. In one bed, the Irises are in three rows on one side
and the Daylilies are in two rows on the other side. In another bed, I
have Irises on the periphery, with Daylilies and some other perennials in
the middle. This way, I have some color in each flower bed for a much
longer span of time. In both instances, I have some (but not all)
reblooming Irises. The Daylilies range from Early Season to Very Late
Season, so these beds have color almost all season.
Now, in writing this, I cannot guarantee that this system will work in
all climates. It will be interesting to hear what experience others have
with this type of arrangement.
