Dear List and Kathy,
This is a really fun thread! We spent a long time debating our favorites
and had a terrible time coming up with just one! It seems that whatever is
the prettiest bloom of the day out in the field is our favorite. I don't
mean to sound lackadaisical or half-hearted; it's just there are so many
gorgeous blooms to choose from. It would be like saying which of your
children is your favorite. How can you? You adore them all. After much
discussion, Steve and I each came up with our own list picking one favorite
for each color. Even this was a hard task. Very sorry, Kathy , not to
follow your request for just one. Maybe our color list will be of some use
to beginners or those looking for a certain color. These were chosen for
their abundance of bloom, substance, rich color, size, and fragrance which
to me is essential in an iris.
