Hello, all!
Last week IB Golden Muffin bloomed, one little bloom down in the
foliage, 8 1/2" tall, lasted 2 days and was gone.
But TODAY, TB Blue Staccato (one of Jim Gibson's stunning plicatas,
1977) has totally unfurled, and I am entranced! There are 3 more
blossoms to open yet, and I hope this top one lasts longer than 2 days!
It is windy today but that hasn't seemed to faze it.
It may not be the most modern or colorful iris, but it's our first, and
we get to see it up close and personal! Too windy to photograph it
unless I can get someone to hold it steady. Really do want to, tho!
In the 4/92 AIS Bulletin, Roger Nelson said it's far more dependable
than some newer plicatas. I hope so, because I want to see it in a 3
year clump in a couple of years! Probably, in the 5 years since he wrote
that, some more dependable ones have been born.
Next to bloom, already showing color, are TBs Phantom Mist, Breakers,
and Hands Up.
Sighing in ecstacy, Barb Johnson ljohnson@cland.net
