SPEC/REF--Cambridge Univ. Press Species Book

Greetings,

Those members of SIGNA who took advantage of the special offer to purchase
the new book 'A Guide to Species Irises, Their Identification and
Cultivation" at the price of $49.95--- less %20--- plus shipping----will wish
to examine their paperwork when the book is received. Mine arrived today and
I was charged $84.00, or the new revised price of $105.00, less %20, plus
shipping. I called the Press at the 800 number on the invoice and informed
them that this was bigtime unacceptable. I refreshed their memory about the
advertised SIGNA special, and told them they should expect other calls. After
consultation with her superior, the representative informed me that my
account was being credited the difference between the appropriate price and
that which I was invoiced. There was some balderdash about the price being
printed wrong in the Cambridge Press catalog, but I silenced this by
suggesting a class action suit for fraud might be invigorating. Some noises
were then made about just crediting everyone who ordered under the SIGNA code
as a matter of course before they had to call, but I would not assume this
will happen without your raising an objection to the situation. Make sure
they credit you postage as well if they put through your charge for shipping
at the time of the order, as they did mine, because I was charged a second
time on this invoice.
