Of the above iris I grow only two but have grown Howdy Do in the past.
Howdy Do, from my memory, is a white(maybe pale blue) iris of Monty
Byers with horns. Bordello is one of those iris that is a classic with
me and I will probably have it forever. Unfortunately (Linda are you
reading) it is very early and will get zapped in a late freeze, even
here in CA. But it is a gorgeous plant and flower. The flower is dark
red-purple-black. Yes all three. Tall stiff stalks with lots of buds.
Whoop 'em up is another classic in the border bearded class. Yellow
standards and brownish-maroon falls with a yellow edge. Very popular
with garden visitors.
I can't vouch how well these iris will do for you in Michigan, maybe
another member can help.
Howdy Do & Bordello were bred in CA and Whoop 'em up was bred in TX.
