You said:
1. What iris can you not live without?
2. Describe it
3. Tell us WHY you love it
4. And don't forget to tell us where you live - city/state,province/zone
And for the subject line... for the faint of heart who are not interested
in
this sort of poll-taking, let's use "TDF Iris" (to die for iris)
I'll keep track....
Kathyguest... who thinks this is a GREAT idea - especially when folks are
wondering what irises to add this year
This is our best garden year for iris (year 5 and counting). Visitors
always say "which is your favorite?". (That is like asking which of your
kids is your favorite!)
But, "if put in the wilderness with only five iris, which would you
choose", the answer is:
Vanity ( for parent-pink, so consistent nomatter the weather)
Silverado (for form-same always gorgeous!)
Dusky Challenger (for color and fragrance)
Immortality (beautiful white and reblooms here always)
"GG Iris of the Year"- this year 2 - (cannot live without)
Sunkist Delight (Niswonger 95-a true step-forward from Joyce Terry,
Smiling Gold, Sunray Reflections-all favorites) and..
No Bikini Atoll (Ernst 96 - lovely sand/pink-7 increases, 2
stalks, minus in fragrance but GREAT!!)
Rita Gormley, Zone 5, St. Louis MO with frost on !!5-15-97!! 84 degrees
today and probably peak TB and (yeah!!!) MTB bloom.
