The unusually cool Spring has slowed bloom, prolonging SDBs for 3 days/bloom
which is very good and preventing TBs from blooming which is very bad since
today our local club (Indiana Daylily and Iris Society) had its annual garden
tour. The thing I love about flower enthusiasts is their ability to travel
hours to look at hundreds of unopened bloom stalks and still enjoy themselves
immensely, maybe not as immensely if they had actually seen some flowers in
bloom.... Fortunately, I grow many medians did put on a good display. IBs
Kara Noelle, Sunny Dawn, Cee Jay, and the unique Zing Me attracted much
attention. The SDB Jeweler's Art caught the eye for the distinctive ruby red
falls. Tall stalks of the SDB Star Baby stuck out in the crowd. A few MTBs,
Carol Lee and Grandpa's Girl, have started blooming, but TBs yet. AND our
show is May 24!
cheers,
