Don't anyone do what I did in a mixed bed that is heavy on Siberian
iris. I read in SI publication that someone recommended ajuga around
Siberians so I happily went to a friend's and she gladly give me a
bushel....first sign of bad tidings.
The first and maybe the second year, it looked great with those
blue spires that bloom just before the SIs....but the third year
it went a little bit crazy. Now, it has jumped all over our pro-
perty and the seeds must be airborne (even though I thought I had
dug all of it up). I find little ajuga plants everywhere - in the
JIs, bearded iris beds, our woodland garden and even found one
growning *in* an established Veronica (along with a dandelion).
Our lawn is becoming an ajuga patch and the last straw was my
lilies. My favorite flowers - is this heresy on the iris-l?
We have come to accept that it cannot be gotten rid of and we
have to work at keeping it from being the monster that invad-
ing Lancaster, NH. :-)
Just a word to the wise...too late for me. :-(
