Nancy,

At sometime in the past history of the American Iris Society (AIS) the
Cook-Lapham award was dropped. This award was named for Paul Cook and
Greg Lapham, now deceased irisarians and hybridizers, who both worked
for the advancement of red iris. I believe they were both from Indiana.
(I am writing this from memory...so others please do not jump all over
me for errors). There is still the Cook-Douglas Medal for the best
Standard Dwarf Bearded iris of the year. This was won by Paul Black for
PUMPIN' IRON this past year. This medal was also name for Paul Cook of
Indiana who was instrumental in developing the Standard Dwarf Class and
for Geddes Douglas a former editor of the AIS Bulletin and hybridizer.

Maybe more than you wanted to know.
