spring in irisdom

I sprayed with cygon & fertilizer in my backyard iris patch(es)
yesterday. With the wand of the sprayer, then, I could move the fans and
examine the growth while hitting all sides. The little ones don't have
much bloom. I don't know whether they were frozen out, or decided last
year to skip a year. The TB's are going to be good, I think, many bloomstalks
are forming.

WNY's show is June 14 and the TB's seem to on schedule for that.
Immortality seems to be suffering, however. -->

The beardless are marvelous, if they are going to be marvelous
at all. I put in several new ones last year and some are very robust, and
some are definitely NOT! I lost Borglum's Seneca Skylights, darn it. Those
that are growing well will probably bloom. I have no explanation for the
variation, except maybe depth of planting.

Has anyone here tried using epson's salt?? On another flower LIST,
a grower suggested

One teaspoon per gallon is plenty. Lots of people find that weak
looking/growing plants are invigourated by such a treatment. Plants use the
Magnesium in epson's salt to make chlorophyll.

I'm still trying to determine the effect of alfalfa used last year.

Although the arilbreds are not showing evidence that they'll bloom
this year, they are increasing nicely.
