Re: Bloom Report
From: "S&C Rust" <srust@fidnet.com>
Just as I thought, this is going to be a record early year for us here in
Union, Missouri. Everything is putting up bloomstalks, including a lot of
what is listed in catalogs as ML. Peak bloom looks to hit within the week,
or next week at best. More than half the siberians have bloomstalks up all
over with color. Don't know what will be left for our May 15 show in
Washington, MO. But, for some reason nobody else in this area is so far
advanced. Maybe I will be able to just walk around the show and enjoy again
what I've already seen in my own garden! Just a few new ones opening today
are Encore Un (BB), Eternal Bliss, another stalk of the historic Gudrun,
also the historic little Swerti, the MTBs Fakir's Fire and Crystal Ruffles,
IB Season's Ticket (yes, four falls); Protocol in a breathtaking two year
clump does have a few blooms with four or five falls as well. The IB
Glorious Day is making a big clump, but blooming short. SDBs opening for
the first time today include Brash and Hot Jazz. Stephanie's first seedling
(1 yr, big plant, lots of increases) from a cross of High Ho Silver x
Electrique looks set to open tomorrow. Tall stalk, light powder blue color
showing on bud. Gary Sides, Misty Lady has four open blooms perfectly
spaced on the first stalk out. Some sight!
