Bloom report

From: Tmilchh@aol.com

Hi iris lovers, I live in Lexington, Kentucky where the weather has been
fantastic for iris this season, not so much rain, more sun, cool nights.
Peachy Face is blooming again (3rd stalk) SDB with 2 buds each in a
peach color with a pink face; also Blue Pools (SDB) many stalks in white with
a blue pool in the center of the falls; Grapesickle (SDB) 9 stalks with 2
buds each, very consistant and grape colored; Baby Blessed (SDB) many stalks
and a rebloomer in a light yellow with a white spot under the beard; Bright
Visions (SDB) has 2 open & 3 bloomstalks in pink; Tantara (SDB)has 2
bloomstalks in a rusty red color with purple-blue beards; Mrs. Nate Rudolf
(SDB) has 4 bloomstalks in a cream color with purple bleeding into the throat
and gold beards; Little Annie (SDB) is a dark red with 3 bloomstalks, matches
my pansies exactly; Little Buccanneer (SDB) had 2 bloomstalks in chocolate
with a chocolate fragrance; Dress White (SDB) new this year t o my garden
from Bob Strohman, can't find out anything about it.
Now for IB's: Cheer is blooming with many bloomstalks in white with a
red beard ( no substance, however); Hi is blooming with many bloomstalks in a
bluewhite self with blue beards ; both of these are consistant & bloom every
year. Lemon Pop is blooming in a 2 year old bed and has many bloomstalks and
is a beautiful ruffled lemom with a white spot and substance;
My first TB opened today . It is Eagle's Flight and has 4 bloomstalks
and one stalk has 9 buds, 3 bloomstalks have an open flower each. I have had
this iris for 3 years and for the first 2 years the bloomstalks have
frozen, even though I covered the plant as best I could. So this year is a
great improvement.
My second TB also opened today , it is a bright yellow from my
Grandmother's garden (She died in 1969). I believe it is Zantha. I have 12
bloomstalks on Zantha. She is double or tripple socketed and growing in semi
shade.
Tomorrow my 3rd TB should open, It is Orange Popsicle, in a 2 year old
bed, growing next to Lemon Pop.
I am so excited. I keep going from bed to bed looking for blooms & buds.
I do hope I still have flowers for our iris show , May 16, 1999 in
Fayette Mall in Lexington, Kentucky.
     Come see.
