I think it means that you are capable of recognizing good irises of all kinds
and surely that is a positive thing. I like many kinds myself, although I
must be the only person in the whole world of irises that is unmoved by DUSKY
CHALLENGER. Just don't care for the color at all.
Glad you are finally having a fine year for bloom, Linda. Mine is crappy so
far. Very heavy bloom last year followed by heat and drought. Please note
that I had a terminal bloom open missing parts on the historic GARDEN FLAME
and there are some snaky stems here and there and obviously stunted stalks.
Some flowers on established plants seems much smaller as well, even when the
bloom is normal. We had a late chill when I could not get out to protect
anything because of my sprained ankle, and I think this may part of the
picture. Up the street in the alley the historic NANCY ORNE bloomed with a
terminal with extra parts. I might add that little MA MIE is utterly unfazed
by any of it, as it is by the very stiff and drying wind we have had for
three days.
