Hello Folks,
I'm not a judge, so this qualifies as personal opinion only. I'm
neutral on SA appendages. They are neither a reason to acquire
a cultivar, nor a reason not to acquire one. I quite liked the spoons
and horns when they were uniform on a bloom. I did not care for
them when they were mixed (spoon/horn) on the same bloom, nor
when one or two beards had appendages and the rest were normal
beards without any appendage. I would have preferred a stalk of
blooms to have been consistant as well. THORNBIRD once had
the top two blooms with spoons and the third with horns all open
at once. I found this distracting, tho individually each bloom was
consistant. I found that more tolerable than inconsistancy on the
bloom itself.
