HYB: results!
From: Dennis Kramb <dkramb@badbear.com>
Wow! I noticed some big fat seed pods already. That didn't take long.
Hoorah!
Less than 50% of crosses I made in April have taken. But I still have a
bizillion stalks coming up (yes, a bizillion, I counted them!), so there's
plenty more opportunity.
Dumb luck! Pollen from ANDROMACHE (a regeliocyclus hybrid, diploid????)
provided by Cindy Rust has made a big fat pod ALENE'S OTHER LOVE (an IB).
Thanks Cindy! The other ANDROMACHE crosses did not take.
Pollen from AUTUMN BUGLER (a reblooming TB) frozen since last fall has set
seed on a couple irises.
GREEN EYED SHEBA has proven to be a good pod AND pollen parent....strange
news for a quarterbred aril iris. (Thanks for ID'ing this one for me,
Sandy.)
ALENE'S OTHER LOVE, an IB, has proven to be pod & pollen fertile. There
was some recent discussion about the limited fertility of IBs.
Neither ZIPPER nor EXTRA, two MDBs, were successful pod or pollen
parents...out several crosses each.
Just a few nifty observations!
