I cut my baby iris teeth on my grandmother's SWERTII (we always
thought it was MADAME CHEREAU until a few years ago when the Old
Farmers' Almanac set us straight). Then ROCOCO, STEPPING OUT, and
GOING MY WAY pushed out the baby teeth. By the time the wisdom teeth
erupted (iris-wise), there came JESSE'S SONG and EVERYTHING PLUS,
both eventually winning the Dykes. I have never grown JS! Never
even wanted to!!! Heresy, you say! I have never liked it...maybe, I
was just purple and white plicated out. EVERYTHING PLUS came as an
extra one year so I planted that, and I grew it for a few years. The
surprise of the century came when E P won the Dykes! Was it worthy
of such an honor?? I wonder. E P is not that old, but how many
catalogs list it? How often do you see it in a show? SONG OF
NORWAY, SILVERADO, and DUSKY CHALLENGER are older than E P but are
still listed and still winning shows.

Could somebody tell me how EVERYTHING PLUS won the Dykes' Medal??

How many still grow it? It is a 90's iris!!!

A Dykes' should be an 'iris for the ages,' but what about E P? (no
offense to the hybridizer)
